With over 23,000 hectares, the maritime part of Cahuita Park is significantly larger than its terrestrial part with 1,102 hectares.
There we find the best preserved coral reef on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
Covering 600 hectares, the Cahuita coral reefs are home to more than 35 species of corals and more than 120 species of fish, including nurse sharks, manta rays and scorpionfish.
To protect this delicate ecosystem, it is not permitted to access it alone from the beach. It is necessary to go there by boat with a captain/guide who will ensure that visitors do not damage the corals.
Departure is from the port of Cahuita. A donation is required to enter the park, we recommend 5$ per person.
The sea is generally calmer in the morning.
This activity lasts between 2 and half to 3 hours. Departure 8:30 a.m. Return approximately 11:00 a.m.
