The village of Cahuita is a 40 minutes’ drive from the Port of Limon.
This small coastal village is known for its “relaxed” atmosphere, its smiling Creole and multi-ethnic inhabitants, its colorful houses and, especially, its National Park.
We will start the hike from the southern entrance, “Puerto Vargas”.
On a bridge on stilts we will cross the tropical rainforest, this bridge is more than 2 km long and ends on the Caribbean coast, which we will follow to the village of Cahuita.
The trail is flat, mostly in the shade of trees. The landscape is magnificent.
This park is the living space of 2 species of monkeys, 2 species of sloths, iguanas, raccoons, coatis mundi, toucans, blue crabs etc.
Those who wish can swim in the sea.
The hike takes between 3 and half and 4 hours depending on the amount of photos you stop to take and the swimming time.
