#1 Jaguar Rescue Center & Punta Uva Beach

The Center is in Playa Chiquita, about an hour and 15 min. from Limon, it is an interesting drive along the coast, we will drive through Banana fields, old cocoa plantations and trough Puerto Viejo, which is the most touristic village on the coast. This Tour is perfect if you would like to see lots of animals from very close, get to know them better and help a center that rehabilitate mistreated, injured and confiscated animals to be reintroduced in their natural habitat. This center is only receiving small groups on appointment in the mornings, to help support the project. They have several cats, sloths, raccoons, toucans, monkeys, snakes and caimans. Punta Uva Beach is at only 15 min. from the center and is well known as the most beautiful Beach on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, golden sand, turquoise blue water, protected by coral reefs and safe to swim, (possibility to rent snorkel gear and Kayaks for 5 $ per hour)

#3 Tortuguero Canal and Cahuita Nacional Park

From Limon we will drive north, to the “Tortuguero Canal” (20 mn ride) and from there take a motor boat through mangroves. We will look for wildlife such as birds, iguanas, howler monkeys and sloths, we may even see crocodiles or caimans.
After this unforgettable canal adventure we go on to the Cahuita National Park. After a 45 minute drive along the coast and through banana plantations we’ll reach the little Caribbean village Cahuita adjacent to the Park.
We will hike for about 30 minutes through the park’s tropical Forest to reach the best place to swim and rest. It is a clean and flat trail along the beach, and we almost can guarantee seeing monkeys and sloths.

#4 Limón Special
(Boat safari, Banana plantation, Lunch and Canopy or Jungle Hike)

Our first stop will be only 30 minutes from the port at a tropical rainforest with huge ancestral trees. In this forest we will drive to a small hill where you will experience a panoramic view of the area and ocean.
From there you can choose between 2 activities. The first option is a canopy experience. There are 12 platforms and on each of them there will be a well trained guide that receives you and assists you further. The second option, if you prefer to see the forest from the ground, is to hike downhill with an English speaking naturalist guide who helps you understand and interact with the forest and its inhabitants. (The trail is about 1 mile long).
At the end of either option, we will enjoy some fresh water and tropical fruits before we drive to a banana plantation where you will get to know all about this delicious fruit and its production. Lunch will be served in Moin at a typical restaurant located on the beachfront. Across the road, a motorboat will take us on a photo safari through mangrove forests, where you will have plenty of opportunities to observe different types of birds, reptiles and mammals like sloths and howler monkeys.

P.S .If you would like to join this tour but don’t feel like doing the canopy or the hike, you could just rest at the view point and take pictures of your friends doing the canopy ride.

#2 Botanical Garden and Chocolate tour by local Indigenous family

From Limon we will drive south, along the coast, through banana plantations and past Cahuita National Park. It takes about an hour to reach Hone Creek, where we will met Petronilia and her daughter Priscilla. They are native Bribri Indians, and they will introduce you to their culture and the original way to make pure cocoa. You will see the tree with cocoa pods and learn about the process to make chocolate and even cocoa butter! And of course you will try some! Then our tour continues to Puerto Viejo, one of the most well known tourist destinations in Costa Rica (15 min. drive) We will visit the Botanical Garden, where you will see all types of medicinal plants, fruit trees, for example cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg, noni , star fruit, mangostin, rambutan, araza, sour sop, durian, passion fruits and cocoa to name a few. There are also many bromeliads and orchids. We also have good chance to see lots of birds, iguanas, sloths and monkeys..
